    "content": "<html><p><em>Stuart:</em> Whoa nelly! I\u2019ve been waiting to get this one out for a while. I spoke to Mike Hommel over at Hamumu Games, Inc. a fairly long time ago and was waiting for a second interview to pair it with. The appearance of classic Mac adventure <em>Dark Castle</em> creator Mark Pierce in my inbox gave that opportunity, so at last\u2014hooray!\u2014here is my Hamumu/<em>Dark Castle</em> episode!</p><p>I\u2019ve been a fan of Hamumu\u2019s stuff for a long time, all the way back to my halcyon games of young adolescence when I was obsessed with the eGames-published <em>Speedy Eggbert</em>, through the marketing of which I found out about the title the renamed <em>Spooky Castle: The Adventures of Kid Mystic</em>. It sat in the back of my memory until one day I discovered the majestic <em>Dr. Lunatic</em>, which sent me down a Hamumu rabbit hole as a bunch of my synapses exploded and I made a number of hyper-obscure connections between games I\u2019d fleetingly experienced in my all-too-cursed computing upbringing.</p><p>Look, my first PC had <em>Windows NT</em>, chosen deliberately so I wouldn\u2019t be able to run games on it. I had to take what I could get, but thankfully Hamumu\u2019s stuff a) worked and b) was infused with clear passion and great humour. It was quite sincerely an honour to speak to Mike about his life, career and games. I hope you will enjoy the chat and check out <em>Dr. Lunatic Supreme With Steam </em>on, er, Steam, alongside his other excellent titles.</p><p>As for <em>Dark Castle</em>, that\u2019s a game I discovered in entirely the wrong way: through the less-than-stellar Mega Drive port, totally unsuited for the system. Nevertheless, its arcane gameplay and frankly <em>cheeky</em> design beguiled me, so finding out that it was originally quite the acclaimed Macintosh title was not especially surprising. With the new <em>Return to Dark Castle</em> just having dropped on Steam (timeliness, <em>at last</em>), it seemed like an excellent time to have a chat with creator Mike Pierce about the game, its sequel, its remake and the exciting <em>Dark Castle</em> project coming in the future.</p><p>Overall, I\u2019d say this is a very <em>Stuart Gipp</em> episode.
