Hi, I’m Stuart Gipp. I’ve gathered my dear pals Seumidh MacDonald and Dave Bulmer to once again discuss a Legend of Zelda classic. Why? Well, because I played through Wind Waker HD—the first time I had done so—and thought it would be worth discussing out of context.

What context, you ask? I suppose the hindsight that’s inherently factored into any given coverage of a game that came out, ooh, 400 years ago now. I don’t really know anything about Zelda, which I think—perhaps arrogantly—makes my perspective worthwhile in a discussion of it. And yes, I’ve done the work, I’ve played the game. But you’ll have to listen to the episode to find out if I liked it or not. It’s a secret.

Jocular self-aggrandisement aside, I do enjoy this format. I’ve been trying to spend my gaming time in 2026 playing through the “big games”, ones that turn up on lists of The Greatest Bestest yet for whatever reason have always evaded me. As I said, I think it’s valuable for people who encounter these titles to talk about and get some hopefully new and interesting opinions out there. Dave and Seumidh are always a treat to talk to and I hope that this discussion of an acknowledged (but controversial) classic will hold some value for you!

We’ve already got another “Out of Context” episode in the bag, this time covering another, non-Zelda Nintendo 64 game. What could it be? Who could possibly know? Well, me, I do. And Seumidh. And Dave. And, I suppose, anyone who pays attention to my BlueSky.
